In her annual sojourn to the Berks Jazz Festival, Angela Stribling of WHUR’s late night ‘Pillow Talk’ segment will be bringing busloads of loyal jazz fans from the DC area for their ‘Remembering George Duke’ performance at the Double Tree Hilton hotel on Saturday afternoon.
The memorial show will feature Chante Moore, Phil Perry, Brian Bromberg and Brian Simpson, who cast a spell on last year’s crowd. And then later that evening WHUR Presents Brian Culbertson and his high energy band at the historic Scottish Rites Temple in West Reading. The Andy Warhol look-alike is a usual ‘CLOSER’ at the BJF and usually leaves the audience drained and thoroughly satisfied that they have seen one of the best jazz fusion and funk bands in the world.
As he did last year, Kirk Whalum’s “Gospel According To Jazz Celebration” officially closes out the 10 day festival on Sunday evening again at the Scottish Rites Temple. The 27th Annual Berks Jazz Festival serves as the annual kick-off of the jazz festival circuit and is a right-of-Spring event that you will not want to miss and place on your 2018 calendar.
